Anyone have/seen/used/experienced a Soltek QBic EQ3701M NForce2 SFF?

Cool looking Soltek Nforce2 SFF with IGP and MCP-T for relatively cheap!

I'm seriously considering this SFF from this place. Canadian pesos.

NCIX ...

Keeping in mind that I live in Vancouver this is the best deal that I can get ... for a NF2 SFF system anways. Has had some very good reviews too.

I'm also thinking of the usual NF2 mobo with/without IGP and the Barton 2500+ which would be cheaper but you don't get the SFF thing going on.

One of the things that slightly worry me is the look of this unit mixed with beige drives and the like. I'm not that aware of how faceplates really work other than get one from the manufacturer if they offer one (coolermaster, lian li) and then slap it on. Somehow I don't think that Soltek offers faceplates.

Any experiences with this unit or experiences/recommendations/suggestions/support would be greatly appreciated.

Figured I'd revive this one. I have one of these. I replaced the back 80mm fan with something that puts out more air to cool the system down some more. I am also looking to replace or lap the heatsink that comes with it, hopefully lowering temps somewhat. At stock it can be somewhat loud, but that is adjustable in the BIOS. As far as faceplates go, don't bother. I did a smooth stealth job on my Pioneer DVD drive, and the whole front of the rig is mirrored. It looks nice and swank. Overall, I'm pleased with the system, especially for the price and the expansion capabilities afforded by the dual 5.25 bays.

Ahhhh ... I greatly appreciate the revival of this thread from the dead.

I'm very interested in what exactly your "stealth mod" consists of? Did you remove the Pioneer face and attached the mirror face from the Soltek? I think I was at Directron and they had some article describing how to do this properly.

I got busy and didn't buy this unit yet. I'm still very interested but now there's the new eq3702m which you may or may not have seen yet. It's on the Soltek website. Basically it's the Soltek P4 SFF style but moved over to the nforce2 setup. I kinda like it a bit better than the mirror ... but that's a bit because of my small worries of possibly having a hard time making the front facade look clean with beige/black drives. Since you have successfully modded the front then i'm back in the 3701m fold.

Did you add a vid card or use the IGP?

Did you overclock the QBIC?

Any pics!?

Thanks a bunch.

I haven't overclocked it yet - I need to do some work with the heatsink, either lapping it or getting a better one, before I'll take that risk. Yep, I stealthed the drives just like that. I took off the face of the drive, have the drive velcroed to the mirror, and have an eraser superglued to the face for button access and the screws on the mirror superglued to the velcro for appearances. It's really smooth, because the mirroring allows you to see when the drive LED lights up, but that's all. I'm going to eventually add a few small blowholes. I'm using the IGP, because this thing is functioning as a server right now. If you really want pics, PM me and I'll try to hook you up.

I just noticed that one of my local comp shops has the eq3702m available now which intrigues me. Decisions, decisions ...

QBIC eq3702m

although it's OOS at the moment.
