Anyone have sata hot swap working with ICH9?

On my 965P-S3, I had to use the JMicron SATA controller to hot swap my SATA drives because the ICH8 south bridge, even though it had an AHCI mode, did not support hot swapping. Wondering if the ICH9 south bridge on the P35's support it. Thanks.

The Abit IP35-Pro, for one example, includes 2 built-in eSATA ports.
They are both controlled by the JMicron controller chip.
If you're wanting to put in your own eSATA bracket and connect to an internal Intel SATA port, that (AHCI hot swap support) should work better than with the ICH8 south bridge SATA ports.
Can't confirm that's so, however.

In fact, hot plug in AHCI and RAID modes has been supported in ICH7 already, if not in ICH6. Whether or not your mainboard actually implements it is another question.

I'm using this tray for my SATA swapping.

I looked in the DS3L's manual and it says SATA hot swapping is only availabed under Vista for the ICH9 SATA ports. Bummer that I'm still using WinXP. 🙁 Guess I'll be getting a DS3R.
