I love the Opera browser, but for some reason I can't enjoy my subscriber status and browse the forums with it. Whenever I get a new PM, I'll click the icon at the top, read the PM, be finished, browse some more, then go back to my PMs later and that old message that I just read and filed away will be sitting there in the inbox marked as new.

Opera seems to "cache" that old PM page and make my old PMs appear there as if they were never read before.

I've had no problems with IE 6 / Nutscrape 6

I think my opera's broken, i've fiddled with everything

k i'm off to sleep now, checking this in the morning

thanks in advance!

I'm not a subscriber (yet), but I've had no problems with the non-subscriber version of the forums with Opera 6.0.4 under win2k.

I have tried it as well under Win2k, and didn't have an issue (unless I had the popup blocker turned on). Mozilla's anti-popup feature is more intelligent than Opera's..

I've been using Opera for quite some time, works great (non subscriber), try changing some of your cache settings to always check for modified documents.

Yeah, that is one of the more annoying problems I came across with Opera and the AT Forums. To solve this one I just hit the refresh button (or press F5). You could try setting the check modified interval to 1 minute (5 hours by default) in the history and cache options. I haven't tried it myself, but it should work...

Another "bug" is that the text area for entering a new post only covers half the width of the window. Since it doesn't really bother me, I haven't looked into the reason behind it.

billgates, this is why!!! ->
Third, the customizable color styles of the Forum pages are defined without the # character in front of them, so Opera - being a strict follower of W3C guidelines - ignores them. I found out from Zuni that ColdFusion uses #'s do denote variables therefore it is impossible to use this special character with dynamic style settings. Too bad...

The search page is a little messed up too when compared to what IE displays, but this one does not bother me at all either.

Apart from these minor annoyances, I still think that the forums are very much enjoyable with Opera, and I most certainly will not give up on my favourite browser just to get pretty background colors and better refresh on AT.

By the way, I just found out that Opera 7 is already in the works, with a completely rewritten source code that will be much more DOM-friendly, essentially meaning that it will have far better support for dynamic content. Check out the CNET news link!! YAY!!! Can't wait!

Yep, those are (supposed to be) the same exact themes - but for some reason Opera decides it needs to make things invisible and not display the background properly.

Luckily I know where the invisible links I need to go to are ;)

how do you get the square graphic boxes around "new topic", etc. to show up in opera? i'm using 6.05 and just the words are there

Thank God, its about time they fixed the DOM. Otherwise the Opera rendering engine isn't too bad...

Hehe, I dunno, I didn't do anything! Try changing the background color to black in the control panel place, maybe that'll work for you - that's the only change I've made to my layout. It looks cool in IE but oh well... Opera is much better to use on this slow computer at work.

Use Mozilla :D

I use Mozilla and I have absolutely no problems with the forums here. Screw IE, only a few websites don't render well in Mozilla and I can just not bother going to them. Tabbed browsing and no pop-ups are so nice.
