I'm thinking of getting the Paradigm Cinema 70CT series 5.1 home theatre speakers. A local sound store is selling them for probably around $550 CDN.

Paradigm Cinema 70CT

Anyone have them, or have experience with any other Paradigm products?

All of my past experiences with Paradigm have been great. Excellent speakers and a good price.

Might be better off with the fluance SX-HTIB and a dayton subwoofer for the same price..but paradigm makes good stuff.

not to be confused with paradyme speakers, which my ex bought out of the back of a van for a "GREAT DEAL"

I live in a pretty small town, and don't feel like travelling 200km to look at different stuff if these will fit the bill. I know I can order stuff online, but I prefer to at least have heard them. I listened to these yesterday, and they were pretty damn clean, and loud.

Another HT noobie question: what gauge of wire do I connect to the receiver with?

I love my Paradigms.

Monitor 7 Fronts
Mini Monitor Rears
PW-2200 Sub
C370? Center

Awesome sound for the price. I would recommend Paradigms and PSB to anyone.

I have a pair of B&Ws but I tested them against Paradigms when I was shopping. To my ear, the Paradigms were bassier but the high end was not as bright. YMMV according to the speakers though.

I don't even know what 'bright' sound is

Get a PW-2500 sub if you can find one... it's the biggest non commercial sub I've ever seen. I have monitor 7's in front, mini monitors in back, a PW2500 with a CC170 center and they sound great

Thats cool.

As to the wire, IMO, 16 guage or larger (14, 12).

Here's more speaker wire info

One of the guys here in the house has Paradigm Phantoms and a CC-170 center. His receiver is being serviced though so I haven't really listened to them much... not that I'd be doing that much anyway.

OP, Rocket tykes might be up your alley too.
