Anyone have or tried out one of these yet?

Segway. Has anyone tried one of these things out yet? Or seen anyone use one? They seem sorta neat, but I'm not sure I'd want to be caught riding one. 🙂

Anyway, my brother in law wants one of these things, and I'm trying to talk him out of it. $5000 is a lot of money to spend on something like this, especially when he's driving a total sh!tbox for a car.

Anyway, would any of you ever buy this thing? Would you use it even if it was free?

Yes, yes he is. The guy has had SIX major accidents in FOUR years. He's a step 35 on his $4000 per year car insurance. I can just see him wiping out a row of mailboxes, riding his Segway. 🙁

That is rediculous, people like him should not be on the road. As for the Segway, what a stupid invention. I guess if you are working in a large warehouse where your running back and forth it might make sense. But even then you could get one of those electric gopeds which cost below a quarter of a Segway.

yea i have, its a great invention. I was in the robotics competition know as FIRST (usfirst.org) in high school for 4 year. So at the competitions Dead Kamen and other VIPs were crusing around on segways. Dean Kamen is the guy who invented it and is the man behind the robotics compeition too.

btw, remember the buzz when it was coming out? they actually kept it a big secret and just told people that 'something' is coming out, without telling what it is and people had to guess what it was going to be without any clue at all. then later they 'leaked' that it's related to transportation, and that's it. heheh.

It did! We're all riding Segways to the store, to work, around the park, etc. It has virtually replaced the automobile for short trips all over the world!
