A friend of mine's uncle passed away a few months ago, and this past weekend they were going through his basement when they found an unused tiffany-style island light. My friend had no use for it, so he offered it to me.
For those that don't know... it looks somewhat like this:

Anyways, my question is-- is there some standard height above the counter for placing these things? The chain on the thing is currently 4 feet long-- long enough so that if I mounted it as is to my celing as-is, the bottom of the lamp would be less than 6 inches from the top of island counter.
My wife seems to think that it should be placed as high as possible... I had always thought these things should be placed so that the bottom of the lamp is just above head-level.
I've tried using google for installation images to see how these lamps are typically placed in homes, but none of the images actually show one of these lamps in use.
Anyone here ever have one and can shed some light on proper placement?
Thanks...
