Hey guys -

My mom's birthday is coming up, and I wanted to get her one of those "digital picture frames"... you know, the nice looking LCD ones that wake up at night and download pictures... my sister and I both have digitial cameras and she's always yelling at us to email pictures to her, so I think this is something my mom would really like.

Anyone have experience with them?? Any that I should avoid at all costs? Thanks!

That'd be a great gift for her, I'd get one for my mom if I wasn't so poor at the moment.

Might want to check epinions.com or ZDNet for reviews. They may have covered some of the models.

it looks lame since the frame is small and I am not sure it the lcds are good enough to be viewable from all angles... but then again, I don't own one.. but I have seen reviews on TechTV at times

Hmmm... the couple I have seen actually looked pretty cool. Overpriced, to be sure, but a neat idea...

Wow, that's a really cool idea. I never saw one of those before, anyone have some links or info on these?

Basically they're a 4x6" LCD screen in a normal picture frame. They have either a memory card slot or some of them connect via phone to download pictures. There are 4 or 5 different brands out there. Unfortunately they're all pretty expensive and the ones that call up have a monthly service fee... BUT in all honesty this is exactly what I need so I'm willing to shell out the $...

Surely SOMEBODY out in anandtech land must have one??
