Anyone have one of these "tiny" jump starters?

I've been wanting to buy a jumpstarter for awhile now to keep at home, and then I saw this thing in a Newegg email blast. $110 for a jumpstarter small enough I could fit it in my spare wheel well. Does anyone have firsthand experience with one of these? I was skeptical at first, but this particular one has 52 5 star and 8 4 star reviews on Amazon and everything looks legit to me.

Also can charge USB devices, and has a bright LED w/strobe function for emergencies. Supposedly spark free too on the connectors.

Anything I should know before I pull the trigger on this neat little thing?

The wires are too small in gauge to provide much of an assist, imo.

It may well recharge your dead battery in 15 or 20 minutes.

didn't look at the link. Got my FiL one after he saw his friend jump a full size heavy duty diesel truck. It fits in his shirt pocket and just works.

don't know what to say other than it works. In my diesel example, the battery wasn't in the truck. Jumped it off the unit itself.

From reading the Amazon reviews people have started a 6.2 V8, 5.0 V8, 4.8 V8, etc.

I also found this model on Newegg, reviews say it's started a 4.6 and some guys V10 dodge

I drive a 2.0, which according to the reviews should be easy. The manufacturer says it's rated up to 6L. There are enough reviews too to not make me think they're "manufacturer sponsored"

Not sure what that has to do with the product we are discussing?

the fact that I mention I picked up a unit for my FiL that jumps and fits in a pocket. You say that is an exaggeration... Just saying I wasn't exaggerating, that's all. I even admit I didn't check the link.

Then what was the point?

Do you sell these things?

checked the link. Sorry for not doing it sooner. That unit is about 3 times the size of the unit for my FiL. So, no, that one will not fit in your pocket. The one I linked will and does work, incan vouch for it. Not sure about the others.

Sorry for the confusion.

Even a mediocre lipo can dump 15-20C. So a 12Ah battery could give you 180-240A. You can expect maybe 50% more peak. 270-360A for pretty crappy lipo. 30-40C batteries aren't horribly expensive though.

Too expensive and the battery will be useless in about a year or so. I wish they would put oversized lithium ion batteries and some smart circuitry so the batteries aren't kept at 100% SOC as that's pretty much the death of a lithium ion battery.
