Anyone have Mario Party 8 and a wide screen television?

I hooked up my wii last night to my westinghouse lvm42-w2 last night and the start up screen where I select all the characters fills up the screen nicely, but once I enter the actual board game, I get two very large black bars on the side of the screen and the game is effectively reduced to 4:3 ratio. I tried the "Fill screen" option on the monitor, but the bars are still quite large and it's quite annoying since all my other wii games fill up the screen fine.

Would upgrading to component cables and running the game in 480p fix this or am I SOL? Anything else I can do to fix this?

I had a similar problem when I hooked up my PS3 make sure the input channel on the television is set to 16:9 and that will probably fix your problem.

Common criticisms of the game include its "high-end GameCube graphics", lack of 16:9 Widescreen support during the mini-games, and that the fact that it relies too heavily on luck, rather than on skill.[citation needed] Matt Casamassina of IGN referred to the single-player mode as "torture" and commented on the outdated visuals.

Unfortunately, this game was most likely made for the gamecube, the publisher held off on release, then put out a quick Wii game. Your 4:3 is normal.

Incorrect. Not in the way he is seeing it. You should see some nice little textured columns, not black bars...the game should fill 16x9, it's just that it has its own custom pillars.

Weird, all pictures I remember seeing around the game's release showed only black bars.
