Anyone have info on Wal-Mart and editing movies they sell?

If this is true that they edit content of DVD movies, how do we as the buyer know whats been edited out or changed?

Is there some resource that tells buyers what movies Wal-Mart edits?

The new Bond movie is now out on DVD, is the version they sell at Wal-Mart edited is some way or is this the same exact version as a version you would get from say Best Buy?

I can't recall exactly what title it was I saw but I know I've seen movies purchased from them that were missing content, yet I've never seen anything mentioned on their packages that state this was done.

Does anyone know any sites that have more information on this?

Beyond hearsay, I've not seen/read anything on this (other than the DVD players which are supposed to censor objectionable content)

My wife bought "The Sweetest Thing" from walmart because she said it was hilarious (especially the pen15 song part), she brought it home and the pen15 song part was cut out completely. She ended up renting it to show to her friends.

So walmart definitely censors some of their movies.

This is exactly what I'm talking about, they do this kind of shyte and don't even mention that it was done on the packaging anywhere.

There has to be more information on this.

Just did a quick google search and other people on the net are confirming receiving an edited version of The Sweetest Thing so apparently they do. I will never buy a movie at Wal-Mart again.

I'll bet you a nickle that Tifababy and others are just confusing "unrated" editions with PG-13/R ones.

Sweetest thing at DVD Empire:
1. R version - Arrrr! - 84 mins
2. Unrated - Hey! - 90 mins

Selling the R version is not "editing" or "censoring" a movie.

No, Wal-Mart orders pre-censored DVD's to make them meet Wal-Mart moral standards.

I bet so because they have to identify edited CDs they sell. They would be under the same obligation to do that for movies.

I assume you're joking and not dressed in tinfoil.

Interesting, the online store for Wal-mart sells both versions of the Sweetest Thing:
Both, yay!

So unless the stores stock a special, secret third version for their secret evil plot to cleanse America, it looks like Tifababy's wife just bought the "wrong" version.

That's what I was thinking too.

The Walmart here sells unrated DVDs of The Girl Next Door and Old School, so I'd say it's probably not true *shrugs*
