Anyone have info on the Ford Escape?

My folks are thinking of getting one. Looks like a mini-SUV. Has anyone out there driven one, or have any comments on it?

The current issue of Car and Driver magazine rated this and it's cousin (Mazda Tribute) the number one mini-SUV.

Wait till the 02 models come out. 01 is/was plagued with recalls and problems. Powertrain in them is awesome for a mini-ute. Especially the V6. Also, w/ the 02 models, you should be able to avoid the terrible dealer markup that's going on right now... (10k for wheels, sunroof, and roof rack - I think not).
