I was just diagnosed with it. I have the severe form, confusion, dizzy, loss of consciousness. wondering if anyone else here has the same problem...what you do to cope and history of it.

for those who dont know, hypoglycemia is caused by low blood suger.

edit:and i cant drive now for 6 months, because i lost consciusness twice.

Is it insulin related like diabetes?

I've heard of it before but don't know all of the underlying causes and stuff.

i am a healthy 20 yr old male and i dont think there are any causes. mine just started about a month ago. diabetes is when the blood sugar is too high, hypoglycemia is when it is too low. People with diabetes can get hypoglycemia if they use too much insulin. but i dont have diabetes

yep found out I had it after I had problems w/ a pregnancy when i was 16. Made me lose the baby.

There are a lot of great books and information out there on it. It is more commonly known now than 11 years ago when i was told I had it.

Basically you have to change your diet and eat lots of small meals protein in the morning and like low/no carbs after about 3 or 4 at night depending on your work/school schudule. I would meet w/ a nutritionist and they can go over everything with you and give you lots of tips. Basically you can't go like 2-3 hrs w/o food. So you feel like you are eating all day.

I carry w/ me glucose tablets to eat in case I start an attack. A good quick fix it orange juice though. Candy helps short term but will hurt you in the long run.

Everyone has different episodes w/ their attacks. I can usually tell when one is starting as I get hot flashes and started to get irritable. When severe attacks occur (thank goodness has been over 2 yrs I think) I am not a nice person to be around.

Hope you get to feeling better soon. If you have any questions I will try and help just PM me or email me.

Yes, be prepared to have mood swings where you can rip someones head off. I tend to scare people when I "switch" because I am normally well mannered.
