I've never been a fan of wide angle/fish eye lenses until recently. After seeing some wide angle/fisheye shots, I just decided to give it a try and placed an order for Canon 15mm f/2.8 fisheye. The only problem is that I'm not so sure whether I should stick with this one or not.

I know that I could've gotton (around $600 range):

1. Sigma 8mm f/3.5
2. Sigma 12-24 f/3.5 - 5.6
3. Sigma 15-30 f/3.5 - 4.5
4. or others.

Has anyone used those lenses or have general experiences working with wide angle/fisheye lenses? If so, can you tell me how it was using them?

(I'm using Canon 5D so there's no crop factor involved.)

15mm is a good place to start. Anything more than that (ex: 8mm) you get a ton of distortion.. This can be fun, but get's old quick when you are just looking for a super-wide view. You can always get a Tiffen or other filter type adapter to go on the 15mm to give you that "fisheye" look if you really want it for those special occasions...

Enjoy, that should be a nice lens with the 5d... The biggest I've gone is 17mm on a 35mm film and it was wide enough for about 90% of the work I wanted to do... Unfortunately I don't have anything near that wide in equivalent for my Sony Alpha right now. I miss it with the crop factor... :(
