Dirt cheap, and i already have a 21" Nokia CRT i use for gaming. The CRT is really dark sometimes because of the strong antiglare filter (and possibly becase of age). I'd be willing to use the LCD for gaming if it doesn't ghost and it looks better. Response time is 25ms but a lot of reviews say they can't detect any ghosting. Just wondering if anyone else has any any experiences with it...

At $300 it's a steal...

$300 for a name brand LCD, i'd go for it. you always have that huge LCD if ghosting is a problem. where did you find that monitor for $300?

Its not digital. IMO LCDs are only worth it if they have DVI, but thats just my take. Ive had bad experience with LCDs that solely have Dsub connection - they have streaking and some other visual anomolies (sp). Samsung usually makes good panels, but I would opt for the 192T first rather than the 192N.

Ive been gaming on my Samsung 213T with 25ms and although I do get a little bit of color streaking, it usually occurs in games like UT2k4. Its definately not unplayable, and i still have great fun playing. My eyes get over it after a few minutes. RPGs can get somewhat annoying tho... it kinda sucks seeing your character "phasing" as you run around the world map.

My advice would be to go to a place that takes returns just in case you dont like it. Try it out.

i am using one right now. it does ghost slightly from the dark -> light transitions, but nothing too bad. better than the dell 1901fp. $300 is a very good price. lacks digital, but it isnt a big deal. its a good display.

office depot had it on clearance for $305 and i had them hold one yesterday. I went in today to buy it and "surprise", they had sold it "by mistake". Yeah, right. The entire state of CA is sold out, too. The manager said she'd give me $200 off any 19" LCD they had but that still wasn't as good a deal. I ended up getting a samsung 912N for $450. A better price than i could have gotten anywhere else, but still no $300 19" LCD monitor.

I figured i'd give the 912N a try and see if i liked it. I could always take it back if i couldnt live with the 25ms and $150 more i paid for it. If I had walked out I would have lost the option so i took a chance. They had a few viewsonic and microtek monitors on display there too, so i'm going to research the reviews and see if any of the other ones are a better buy.

I was hoping the 912N would be significantly better than the 192N since it WAS a lot more expensive, but I dunno. The 25ms response time does suck. My eyes aren't that sensitive but i could really see the ghosting and streaking in counter strike. I'm going to play it a bit more and see if i get used to it, though. Someone else said that it's not nearly as bad after a few days of use.

Anyone know the method behind the naming scheme that samsung uses? They have a billion different LCDs that all look approximately the same to me. Why so many different models? I can't tell if the 192N is supposed to be better than the 213T or better than the 912N or 912T or any of the other fvcking models they have out.
