Anyone have experience with the Android tablets?

I am possibly interested in these when they become more available. Anyone play with one yet? What do you think of them?

i'd like to hear this as well.

1. its a phone without a phone but can do text/voip calls
2. big screen
3. 3G plan? same as aT&T $30 month to month for unlimited data?
4. app store? how is the larger screen size handled by apps? same appstore as the rest of the android devices?

i mean a JB ipad installous is quite fun with 3G unlimited - how much better/cheaper is it? actually i don't care about cheaper, just better. say a reference $500 design with dual cameras for yahoo messenger/fring/tango.

Any suggestions on a model that will have upgrades for the next 3-4 years?

I am looking for a tablet also but can't find a consolidated site for current/new tablets or near future ones which will be much better.

Not looking for 3G specifically, open to anything.

I just want one that doesn't have cellular wan, but has a dock, IR/RF emitter for use as a remote and a 7 to 10" screen + access to the app store. There are a few coming out like that... So I'm waiting until they are $200 to $250 and I'll snag one.

Rumor is more tablets with 3G/4G come out next year. You may want to hold off till Q1 2011 if you can and see what happens. What we're seeing offered right now is just the tip of the ice berg supposedly.

Slatedroid is a good resource at the moment.

There's a wide range of quality, hardware, and software though. A few use Cortex A8 designs with semi decent resistive touch screens, a few use Rockchip's ARM CPUs, some use Via's, some use Telechips.

MeriMobile has a nice selection, but only a few are 'top tier' quality.

The Viewsonic GTablet and the Archos 70/101 tablets seem to be the current favorites at the moment, with the GTablet taking the performance crown. Once you wipe the stock build off it in favor of CM or TnT. XDA has several forums covering it, as does Slatedroid.

3g/4g tablets in the 7"+ size will absolutely change the car-pc world. once someone makes a good front-end software package for android, look out. all people will have to do is mold these into their dash, hook up minimal addons and you have an instant car computer that does music, navigation, phone calls, and pretty much whatever else.

Bump. I bought a Cruz 7" T105 android 2.0 tablet last night and returned it today. Sucks. Not Anroid mind you, - I like that ALOT. Just this particular unit. Slow, un-upgradeable, no Flash. Blech. Glad I was able to return it. I just joined Android Forums but I will take a look at that Slatedroid.

Any recommendations for a pocket-sized 4" Android tablet that's not a phone? Looking to replace an older Nokia for ebooks (FBReader), browsing, videos and music. I only need a wi-fi connection and don't want to be locked into any monthly service plans.

The Archos 43 looks ok, but I've been reading that Archos is sort of proprietary and doesn't fully support all the Android apps (not sure if that's true or not). Are there any good alternatives in this size range?

EDIT: I found some mention of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Player (based on the phone, but not a phone), which is supposed to be announced at CES. It might also be worth considering, depending on features and prices.
