looking for a little advice on a company called Quixtar. my friend just got involved and is trying to get me to join and wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with it. as far as i can tell, i can get everything i need cheaper on the internet than i can from this company, but what about the money making aspect. is there money to be made or is it just a complete waste of time like amway? thanks

<< It literally is Amway-online. >>

That is true! Try to get one of them to admit it... they are very reluctant to say that. hehe

Two words: Stay Away. It is a marketing scheme.

so?? It is legal, people make money off it and people buy good products via quixtar. what is soo bad about that?

if you choose not to use amway products good for you, but to dismiss it as "a marketing scheme" and make it seem like that is a derogatory remark is juvenile at best.

If your friend really want's to get involved in quixtar, then make them aware that it takes time and money. it is no different than starting your own business. it is a good business but it requires hard work. those that have tried and failed and condemn it just do so because they weren't willing to put in the time and sweat. i know too many people that made good money w/ amway now quixtar to take the naysayers seriously.

There is money to be made.

I tried doing it, but I was broke most of the time and already working several jobs. If you want to do Quixtar, make sure you sign up under somebody that knows how to properly work the system. And dedicate a chuck of time to it, and the key is to buy about 200 points worth of products a month even though it costs more than usual (they are quality products so you won't feel cheated). If you get people to sign up under you by following the same plan, of buying 200 points for themselves, then you will make money as long as it's branched out.

It uses a pyramid scheme, but, it's still an honest scheme. There is a real product involved - none of that "I'll sell you a business that teaches you how to sell a business" stuff, people actually buy stuff and are happy with it.

You can't cheat though. All has to be done through personal contact, can't make any nifty websites or open any real stores.

Yes, like many other people said, it is pretty much Amway online

However, like i have said in many other Amway related threads, Amway is definitely not a marketing scam.
My mother made about 30k a year plus a + yearly bonus + a yearly expense paid trip while doing it as a part time job.

And her upline owns 2 jaguars and a bentley while living in a 500k house.
I saw them with my own eyes.

One of the founder of Amway, DuVose (sp??) owns the Orlando Magics and he is also ranked in the top 50 wealthiest people by Forbes magazine
(he was ranked int the 20's i believe)

Amways also owns the St. Peter's island in the Carribean.
As a company, Amway is in over 25+ to 30+ countries across the world.

To be honest, Amway is not a businese for everyone.
You will have to stay tough through all the rejections you will face or otherwise you will not last 6 months doing Amway.

The real question is not whether or not you can make money doing Amway.
The real question is will you survive and stay long enough in Amway to actually start making money.

I guess it's ok as long as you like getting suckered into a pyramid scheme and end up spending more money than you make unless you sucker your friends and family into it too..

My sister asked me about it 2 years ago..

Think chain letter where you send everybody on the list one dollar and then add your name to the bottom of the list and send it to 5 people...they send in a dollar and send it to 5 people...so on and so on..The only one making money off from it is the starters and those who sucker their friends and family into it..

Have some consideration, please

Do a google search for PONZI SCHEME to learn all you need to know about Quixtar. A very small percentage of people who join make any sizeable profit.

Basically your friend is trying so hard to recruit you because that's the main goal in programs like this---get enough people below you so your making the money off of their sales. The trouble is that most people who get involved in programs like this burn out as soon as they realize that there's NO easy money involved. If you work your ass off you might earn something, but there are far easier roads to wealth than trying to sell these sh!tty products to friends and family.

Yes, the basic idea is trying to recruit other people and recommend them to use Amway products.
Amways is like any other business, you will have to work you ass off in order to make money.

Amway products are the not the kind of some out of the products that you will never use in your life.
Nor are Amway products some lame ass, second rated, over priced, POS products.
For example, although i am not in Amway even though my mother is (i take rejections too harshly ), i do eat Amway vitamines and use their daily care products.

Think of the following scenario for a min ...

You brush your teeth and wash your body, no?

Instead of buying those shampoo and tooth paste from stores that do not give you a commision for the products that you purchase.
You can instead purchase them from Amway and receive a commision base on the amount and price of products that you pruchase.

Then you recommend/tell 5 other people to pruchase products from Amway and they will all receive a commision themselves and ask each of those 5 people to ask 5 other people to do the same and so on and so on ... and all of their sales also count under your sales ...

that's the idea of how people make money from Amway.

Now expend tooth paste and shampoo to vitamines, water purifier, beauty products, laundry detergents, and hundreds of other products ....

Holy crap! I had a suspicion it was Amway! My brother-in-law was telling me about this just this past weekend. I was like..it must be one of those MLM schemes and I told him it sounded an awful lot like Amway. Of course he denied it. LMAO, I can't wait to tell him it's Amway's online arm...haha.

WOW! Thank you for all your responses. I had a feeling I would get it straight from you guys. They did tell me that it was amway online, which really turned me off. Then seeing their insane prices for their limited supply really put me off. The main issue is time I guess. I too have known people who made a killing off of amway, but god, that is all they did. I was wondering if it was the same for Quixtar and apparently it is. I don't have time to be hassling friends about this. I think I will just stick to PMing and MIR to same money, haha

Thanks a lot Anandtech!
