Anyone have experience with Newegg refurb MB's

Looking for the Abit NF7-S v2. They have it new for around $80, but a refurb is $49. I've been looking a little on the FS forums and these boards seem to go for $60-$70 still. And you're still taking the chance buying used. So, in my mind, you might as well get the $50 refurb. Does that make sense?

I've never personally bought a refurb from the Egg, but I've heard of many people getting dead/imcomplete sets. Keep in mind that most of them won't come with a I/O plate. You should think about buying a used one, if you're looking to save some money, rather than going the Refurb route with MoBos. I see a bunch of these for sale in the FS/FT forum. Just my 2 cents.

Amheck,

I know that buying ANYTHING refurbished is a gamble but I've had very good luck with Newegg.
The last one was a DFI Lanparty Ultra II B and, as Cheez mentioned, I was concerned whether the I/O plate would come with it.
OMFG!! This thing had everything including the stupid backpack/luggage carrying thingy.

The bottom line is: you can always fall back on the maunfacturer's warranty if the MB doesn't function properly.
Abit will even furnish you with the I/O plate if you need it.

Good Luck 🙂

Thanks for the responses guy. I ended up finding what seems to be a really good deal. It's the NF7-s v2 board with box, manual, backplate and a cable or two. Good price, so I guess it does pay to keep looking in the FS forums.

Hit or miss on refurbs. Yes, I've had DOA parts (I've purchased more than just refurb mobos) or parts that weren't fully functional (still have an Epox 8RDA that came with non-functioning onboard audio) or components missing parts (for instance, most refurb Asus boards are just the bare board in a white box, not even I/O plate). However, I have had refurb stuff that were pretty much NIB (New In Box) such as Shuttle AN35N motherboards that were factory sealed and still "fragrant" with all extras.
