I need to return a drive today and was wondering if anyone has had any positive or negative experiences with their return/warranty service.

Thanks

I've had to use them and they gave me the RMA number and I sent the drive out and within 2 weeks I had a replacement.

Maxtor has probably been the easiest hard drive manufacturer to deal with on RMA's.
I just used my credit card, as fir3wir3 said, and I was given 30 days to return the defective drive before they would charge my account. :)

Yes Maxtor does very well. Do the advanced replacement, give them your credit card, they'll send you a replacement hard drive, you send the old one back within 30 days, they won't charge your credit card and your good to go.

Maxtor RMA is really good, hassle free. I did the advanced RMA a few years back. They actually sent me a larger drive.

Maxtor is great on RMA's - and if they don't have a drive to match the one you send them, they'll bump it up to the next largest size...

I couldn't believe how easy it was. I got 3 x 40.9GB Maxtors and FexEx appears to have used the box for soccer practive. One of the drives was DOA. :( I called Maxtor and everything was taken care of in 5 minutes with advanced RMA. No runaround and no stupid questions.

I basically second what everyone else said. Very easy to deal with, I've RMAed two drives without hassle.
