Anyone have experience with Geek Squad?

I'm wondering if I should start recommending Geek Squad for ppl that ask me to clean their computers from spyware/adware. Are they helpful? Are they actually capable of going into the registry and fixing things without screwing things up or will they just recommend you to format?

heh my mother in law took her computer to them to clear out a virus's (i gave up after the 400th one). It came back clean but the sound card does not work anymore. Not to mention we are sure it had a DVD player in it before we took it in. now it has 2 cd players (1 is NOT a burner). But we cant find the paper work. oh all for the charge of $150

My gf's drive died 2 weeks ago. She had a 3 year service plan on the computer. We took it in, I told the geek squad guy was was wrong and they just put another drive in.

chicks little sister dates a manager at a best buy. brought me the little advert on them...way too expensive.
there are tons of dudes that will do it in smaller companies or private business that charge only 30-50 dollars an hour and will be in and out in that time.

You know what's funny, the first time I applied there I failed the little personality test that you take online. Looking back, I was pretty baked when I took it. That was a bad idea.
