i just purchased a Radeon 9700 Pro card from them a few minutes ago. the site stated that they would send me a confirmation email within 24 hours. the thing is i need to pick this up before i go to work tomorrow at 1pm, could i just walk in there without a confirmation email and claim my product?

never did this in-store pickup before, any of you guys have experience with this?

if the store is still open, you could be getting it very soon. if not, might be pretty early in the morning. ive only done it once though, and i got my confirm e-mail an hour later after ordering. i ordered at 2pm on a sunday, and the store closed at 6 or something. but i had the confirm e-mail at 3.

Make sure you have the correct credit card,
that's how they identify you with the order.

I've done in-store pickup three times and it appears to be YMMV whether they ask for your confirmation email.

The first time I did *not* bring a printout of the confirmation email and they refused to give me the order (even though I knew the order #, had the right credit card, ID and everything). No amount of (polite) reasoning would change their minds so I had to come back later.

The second time I placed an order for in-store pickup I was prepared and brought my confirmation email with me, but that time they never asked for it. Go figure.

The third time they had "lost" my order completely (grr) so the subject of the confirmation email never came up.

I did it when Best Buy first started it and the people there were more or less clueless. It was a nice way to get a sale price on a couple CDs that I wasn't able to make it into the store the last day of the sale since it didn't change over until midnight.

I've had the same experience as exp & FuZioN, don't even think about showing up without the email, (or @ least the confirmation # in the 2nd email) and your CC...

The line usually sux, and I usually wish I'd just gone to the store & bought it rather than do an online order, unless it was a killer deal, like the vpr Matrix 17" LCD I got for ~$250 after rebate (they'd forgotten to cancel the 2nd rebate & it was a great deal)

1) Call the BB first before going, if they say YES you can come down write down the employee's name.
2) Bring with you your confirmation printout from BB.com, your credit card you used and your ID

The pickup window is usually the same window for returns, so there's usually a line. Might as well just go to the store, pick it off the shelf, and go to the register.

Did it once and never again. It defeats the purpose of picking it up when you have to wait in the same line as returns. Plus the CSRs are usually clueless from my experience.

I've done instore pickup at Circuit City plenty of times, it was always quick and efficient.

I did instore pickup at BB once, took almost 45 minutes to get my CDRs. But there was ONE other person in line ahead of me, so perhaps I'm being unfairly critical of BB's willingness or ability to handle the crush of customers at the service desk. From now on its use the free shipping at BB, no matter what, for me.

Every in-store I've done anywhere wants the printout and to scan the credit card used.

well they sent me a confirmation email stating the 9700 Pro was not in stock, so i picked up a 9500 Pro while at work today (NY). i was up until 5am this morning on Anandtech.com searching for reviews of both cards, and the 9500 Pro held its own against the GeForce lineup (and was
cheaper).

so i'm gonna install the card in a few minutes and fire up Planetside and see how that puppy runs.

Here have been my experiences with BB in store pickup:

Order item online
Get confirmation e-mail
Go to the store with e-mail printout
Wait in line 30 minutes to talk to someone
Wait another 10 minutes while they "look" for my item
Get told that my item hasn't yet been pulled and won't be until they get word from corporate
Ask them to cancel my order because they have items on the shelf, but they won't cancel it for me and I have to do it myself
Go to shelf and get item I want and take it to register to buy it

By comparison, CC has a FAR superior ISP system. Order it online, by the time you're at the store it's been pulled and prepped. Show them drivers license, credit card, be gone in 10 minutes.

Tried it once. They screwed it up. Went to the store and bought it off the shelf. Seems like it could be a time saver and good for snarfing hot deals more quickly, but they've got to get their acts together.
