One of the guys here has one that he's been playing with...he says he has about a 5% success rate getting it to work under XP. I have never personally tried one though.

some guy made a jello mold of his finger and was able to fool the unit.. seems that a lot of them could be fool.. they call them "toys" for now.

I was recently fingerprinted with a modern scanning system by security police as part of an application for a ramp security badge in my position as ground equipment and facilities manager for a commuter airline. The first step was what is called a slap with all the fingers on a hand at once. Next came individual scans of each finger. In every case the program announced that the individual scans were not from the same person as the slap. I would say they have a long ways to go before this technology is fool proof.
