Anyone have experience making a bootable USB flash drive?

RU482

Lifer
I have a bunch of DOS based utilities (hard drive tests, memory tests, bios update utilities, ect) that I would like to put all on one bootable USB flash drive. The computers I use all support USB flash boots from the bios.

I have a bunch of 1GB drives.

Is there a good utility to create a master boot record on a USB flash drive?
I haven't had much luck with the famous HP utility.

Thanks in advance!

PM me your email.. i can email you the utility i used.

There's two HP utilities that I know of.. One I had no luck,

the other was bingo, easy.

This is the method I used (this was on an HP machine with a BIOS that recognizes USB devices at boot):
1. Temporarily disconnect all HDs.
2. Boot with a DOS disk that has both FDISK and sys on it.
3. Run FDISK and assuming it sees the flash drive mark the partition as active.
4. Reboot with the DOS disk again and sys to the flash drive.

Link with more detail.
