Anyone have experience connecting Windows XP machines to a server running Windows NT?

My company's network is somewhat old. We're mostly running Windows 95, 98, and NT, connected to an NT server. Everything has been working fine until we picked up a couple of newer Dells with XP Home on them. We can see some of the network resources, but not the main server. Are there any special tricks for getting connected to older servers with XP?

XP Home cannot join a domain, but I'm not sure if it would be restricted from viewing file-shares on a server.

Can you ping the server? Can you access it via \\servername? Do you get an error message?

As Wizkid said, Windows XP Home cannot join a domain. The only way you might be able to view resources on the server is:

1) Install XP Pro on the computers
2) Use simple file sharing on the server (I'm not sure if you can do this on an NT 4 domain controller), and give 'Everyone' permission to view the shares. This is NOT a good idea for a domain since you essentially lose all security that a domain provides, but it could work...
