I have my password autosaved on my desktop machine. Earlier i was trying to log back in, however, I got a prompt saying that my password was incorrect - twice using the autofill.

Thinking this was weird, I tried manually typing it in, did not work and got locked out after 5 attempts. Looked in my email and didn't see any signs of login warnings before this, nor a password changed email. Managed to get in by a password reset.

This was a really odd occurrence, makes me think it was a fluke but I didn't think my computer or account had been compromised either - wondering if anyone else had experienced this.

Yes, I just had the same exact thing happen. I also got my password reset and emailed to me and now was just able to log in.

Is this board being hacked or what? :|

I've also heard of members having their accounts hacked and having their locations changed without them knowing.

Hmmm...something might be up

Crazy. I wonder if it's limited to some of the member base or if other people have experienced this.

Anecdotally, OT does feel a little slower than usual today but hard to be sure by acting on this.

Well, I was able to log in this morning, no password issues.

Could an admin please tell me and gaidensensei what went on? Again, did my account get hacked? This seems to only have happened to two people here yesterday as no one else has come forward.

Passwords just don't change themselves. :|

Several locations have been changed by admins. The location field is more, or less, for that, if one wishes to provide it. It's not for posting lengthy favorite quotes, etc. Many of the brief messages (i.e. "location: banned") have been forgiven/allowed/chuckled at, but most of the locations that were multiple line quotes have been removed. Likewise a lot of "little" things to keep the forums tidy are done somewhat routinely - if you had a tapatalk signature "this message was sent by my blueberry-pod by tapatalk" - you would discover that automatic signature vanished. (I've personally removed about 100 of those from posts.)

And, it's not a matter of hacking - one click on a user name and admins have the tools to edit/change such things. Accusing moderators and administrators of "hacking" which has a lot of negative connotations is misguided and an unfair characterization.

You know, I wouldn't have minded one bit if someone told me, "you can't have a quote for your location." I would've just changed it as I was told to. I even made a thread here asking about it being deleted, and no one answered me. Instead my location was again deleted after I was told to change my password and put it back.

I had my location deleted twice and didn't know why it was happening, because no one told me they were deleting it because it was untidy or lengthy and yes, I was concerned that someone had logged into my account and was deleting stuff. I didn't even think it would be a mod/admin doing it, but someone from the outside who figured how to log into my account. I didn't want someone getting into my account and then posting as me.

As far as my password being tampered with, I would also like to know what is going on there. I haven't responded with an accusation of anyone in this thread, but no one is giving me any answers.

I don't know how the vB system is setup, but it might be that someone was trying to guess your login password and they didn't, but your account got locked owing to their attempts?

Unfortunately members here do manage to get their accounts hacked, no different than getting their online bank accounts hacked and so on.

Threat vectors to online security are a reality. (knocks-on-wood) I haven't been hacked yet, but we've got guys like Nemesis that talk about their AT account being hacked all the time. It happens.
