Anyone have any time with Windows Server 2003 R2 yet?

Just curious if you like it and what changes really seem useful. The storage reporting and Unix integration sounds really nice.

I'm deployed a couple of servers w/ R2; but have yet to take advantage of many R2 features.

Biggest thing I'm working toward now is using the new FRS engine to replicate data from branch servers back to corporate for central backup and storage. Of course that still requires R2 on both ends 🙂

In addition I'll probably be making use of the virtualization so that I can pull out of service some of our less-critical servers (i.e. web dev boxes).

Just finally got my enterprise volume cd's last week. I'm installing it on virtual server 2005 r2 now, to mess with it before I deploy it to some new citrix servers I'll be setting up. I really wish they would have made it a one cd/dvd install rather then this second cd you put in immediately after first logon. Haven't messed around with it long enough to see the new features either.

I spent a day at an MS workshop playing and configuring the new R2 features. I like the new FRS engine. Also, the ability to control the types of files being stored on the Server would be nice.

Unfortunately, I mostly deal with SBS Servers. And Microsoft has chosen NOT to incorporate many of the Branch Office technologies of R2 into the SBS 2003 R2 release. So I probably won't be using those new features much. 🙁

Yeah, I'm really disapointed that they decided that you *must* run Server 2003 R2 Enterprise on one of the replica servers in order to get cross-file RDC 🙁
