Anyone have any squaretrade experience?

I'm not usually an extended warranty sorta guy but got a nice discount on a sony refurb 4k tv and thought the peace of mind was worth the $$ (90 day warranty otherwise). Then I noticed that I would be more willing to take a gamble on the no name products on amazon if squaretrade was my middle man instead of some chinese call center ($35 knock off drill that I normally would assume would fall apart in a few months was more appealing after the $3 squaretrade policy, as an example). So how strict are they? Will they ban me if they notice I buy cheapo crap on amazon and expect them to fail within the 3ish years? Any people here with multiple claims get any resistance? Any thoughts?

The only experience I had dealing with them, was about them not refunding me the warranty when I decided to cancel my order. They charge you as soon as you hit that order button. The item I ordered was not in stock, even though the website claimed it was. So I cancelled the order, but Squaretrade refused to refund the warranty for an item I never received.

That's all I have about them. I've never had to make a claim on a warranty that I've bought from them, on stuff I actually received.

That's certainly enough BS for me to not reward them with any business

Did you do a chargeback on your card?

Ive gotten FT on many of my electronics. Ive had to use it twice. Once on a receiver (which was fixed appropriately by a certified Yamaha shop) and once for a 65" LCD that got a line in it. They refunded me full price of what I paid. Both times was very easy.

How long ago was that?

What is SquareTrade's cancellation policy?
You can cancel a plan any time, for any reason. You’ll receive a full refund if you cancel within the first 30 days. After that, you’ll receive a pro-rated refund.

What KeithP said. I have filed 2 claims before, and then still got a prorated refund for cancelling before my 3 years were up on a phone squaretrade warranty.

I have filed a bunch of claims (clumsy wife with her phones), always worked out great.

Have purchased a bunch of ST warranties and used them twice.

Both times the terms of the plans were honored promptly, the only hassle was that one of the items (Keurig) had to be shipped to them and was a bit of a pain to package.

I've also cancelled a plan after purchase and was refunded the next day.

Smartphone plans are on the pricey side but things like TV's, gaming consoles etc are reasonable.
