well, tomorrows the last day of finals, and ive got biology (my hardest course). im sure i aced all my other classes so i want to make sure i grab an A from bio too, for a 4.0. Anyway, i was just looking for some study tips and they are all real general, common sense stuff. like: don't cram, stay awake, sit up, etc.

i was wondering if anyone has any of their own techniques they found to work well while studying. i remember my teacher told me listening to classical music can help you concentrate. someone told me munching on fruit can help you study better.

any recomendations? i need this A!

I find writing down key material on notecards helps, even form it like a question with the answer on the back.

I take it you're in HS. Is it AP? It all depends on the type of test. For example, for MC, I like to scan over the whole chapter, picking up facts, so I don't get screwed. But if you're taking a test that might have a written part, you might want to review over main concepts, like how the Krebs Cycle works if studying cellular respiration.

lock yourself up in a quiet room for 6(or howvever many you need) hours straight, no music, no noise, just you and the book, make sure you get ~6 hours of sleep, then drink coffee before the exam so you are very alert, that works for me,

A tip for getting some studying done? Trust me on this one:

#1 - Keep your S.O. out of the room. :p

Good point...maybe just stay away from the computer in general, unless you actually need it for something. It's amazing how easily I can get sidetracked sitting around this thing when I'm supposed to be doing homework. Speaking of which...

EDIT: brunswickite beat me to it.

During my coursework, I try to get all the notes and answers to tutorials. I file those, organize them and pore on them just before exams. Organization if really important especially for average students... like me :)

edit: I guess the above was not really relevant

Have enough sleep before exams!

I find that if I come read AT every little bit while doing work that I do better. Kind of strange. I guess it helps keep me focused on the work since I'm not doing that every second. Every 5 minutes or so, I come read a thread then read for a few more minutes.

Studying:
High School -> dont
College -> study a day or so before the exam for a few hours

That's how I got through my "education" (Graduating college in May)

if you have a lot of stuff to memorize... you might want to make a story about it. make it pretty rediculous cause it makes it easier to memorize.

like for a Beatle's class I took, we had to memorize albums and all the tracks on each album. So using the track names, I made up stories to tie them with the album names. Worked for me.

Make sure you are as far away from your computer as possible. If you're anywhere near it, your studying will go something like this:

Check email. Respond to 1 message.

Check ATOT threads. Make 3 posts.

Open book. Read 3 pages.

Turn on music.

Read 2 more pages.

Check email. No new messages.

Read one more page.

Check ATOT. Nothing interesting.

Turn off music.

Turn on music.

Check email again.

Check ATOT. Nef just 'cause.

Read 3 pages, go to exam.

:D

Get about 4 hours of sleep after studying for a long time. Then, get up early and review like mad. The material will stick much better if you review it in the morning. I'm not BSing either, this tends to be my usual study strategy for College History classes, and it hasn't failed me yet (A's in all the classes). Note that this is not really the best for really long term memorization. Spaced studying is better for long term....
