Anyone have any luck with Sprint retention plans

I have had Sprint for 14 months and have been pleased with the service. I decided since my contract was up and I am tired of my phone, I would get a vision phone and adjust my plan. I have 2 phones right now, one for me and my wife, and a decent plan for each that costs $90 month. Without going into a long story, both the store and rep on the phone basically said they are offering no deals to existing customers and if I want a deal comparable to the new customer plans being advertised, I should cancel my current contract and sign up as a new customer.

WTF!:| I think this is total BS. I am going to wait until the new law goes into affect so I can keep my numbers. Has anyone had a good experience with the retention department and have a few pointers? As of right now they are more than willing to let me walk. I guess I should since they don't need me as a customer, but coverage in my area is not the greatest.

When portability finally gets here, I think there's going to be a lot of people walking shortly, me included. AT&T can kiss my rosey red butt.
