Anyone have any luck w/ OCZ DDR Booster

I have OCed my rig to 3.8. The cpu is Prime stable (when I run Prime95 w/ small FFTs it is fine for hours) but, the RAM is unstable. My mobo is maxed at 2.85v on the memory. Has anybody used the
OCZ DDR Booster to stabilize their RAM? I dropped some coin on these PC4400 sticks and I expect
them to perform a little better!

Well, PC4400 should easily reach 250mhz. 250x 16 multiplier gives you 4000mhz which is pretty much as high as you are going to get on air cooling with a prescott 3.2

At what latency does you ram run 250mhz (PC4000)?

If you top out at 3.8, that's only 238mhz on the ram, not even close to its limit of 275. Something tells me it's your cpu might be unstable and not the RAM.

To test if this is true, enable any ratio like 3:2 or 5:4 and run the same prime95 test. If it fails, you know it's not the ram.

update the motherboard to the latest BIOS. Check for voltage fluctuations on the rails using Motherboard Monitor 5

I have already run Prime95 at a 5:4 ratio to rule out the CPU (it didn't fail). When I run Prime at 1:1 ratio it fails quick. I am running a 14 multiplier, to achieve higher fsb speeds (14x272). I have the latest bios. I also run MM5, everything seems OK. Since, I have ruled out the CPU, the only thing I can think of is not enough voltage. My mobo only allows me 2.85 max, so I am wondering if the OCZ DDR booster would help. Anyone have experience with this tool?

According to the OCZ website, you can hit 3.6v with the Asus P4C800 Deluxe. Their website also says that your RAM is rated for 2.85v so technically, you should be fine without the booster. It seems like there's something else holding you back.

Why would you need the booster with PC-4400? I run my at 2.85v and I could reach the 290's at 3-4-4-8 with my old 2.4c. Since you have the C0 stepping 3.2E most people top out in the 270's when using the 14x multi, it's not your memory. Even the 3.4's tend to get higher oc's with the 17x multi then the 14x. You can try upping your VAGP to help give your NB some more volts(it doesn't harm your graphics card). What is your NB temps?

Using air cooling with a Thermalright XP-90 (this baby dropped my temps 10-15C [Thanks for the tip Aristo!]) The heatsink is so large it actually blows air down over my NB keeping it cool (just warm to the touch). My case temp right now is 27C idle 31C load, CPU 40C idle 58C load. I will try bumping up the AGPv. But, the reason I think it's the RAM is: At 14x272fsb 5:4 DDR ratio it passes Prime 2hrs. but at 1:1 it fails right away. I emailed OCZ and SteveOCZ replied today to try 1:1 ratio 1 stick at a time to see if one of the sticks is bad.
