Anyone have any idea what's going on in downtown NYC?

I live on Water St. in downtown and roughly 1/2 hour ago I saw almost 10 cop cars go by with sirens blazing. I thought nothing of it, except that maybe there was a bank robbery or something like that. However, just a few minutes ago they came back, in the same exact line, down the same exact street with sirens blazing again. Anyone know what's going on?

it is not the only time this has happened downtown. i work on liberty and broadway and police cars are always playing train and blasting their sirens. i think they do it to look cool.
