That looks like a Sony MiniDV camcorder model number.

The only question is why not buy a cheaper model without the still photo quality and spend the savings and a digital camera that takes much better photos than any camcorder can.

Yes it is, do you have any recommendations ? I dont need still image pictures feature and am basically looking for a good recorder picture and high speed transfer to a pc.

Seriously, you just need one with a firewire and digital format. Look for one that has the firewire cable included. I was ready to buy a Canon ZR20 or ZR25mc... they had good reviews were priced well. Canon's newest version of the ZR20/25 are called ZR40 and ZR45mc. BTW the mc stands for memory card. Sonys are nice too, but good luck finding a deal. You might be able to find a ZR25 on close out now that they have the new line out.

EDIT: i say you need the firewire b/c its faster than the USB.
