Anyone have any experience with the new Linksys 72Mbps 802.11b gear?

PC card

DSL router

WAP

Looks like they don't have a 5GHz band DSL router out yet, just the WAP.

I'd rather get a DSL router and a PC card. If I went with the WAP, what would I need, another NIC in my computer with DSL?

Just to clarify, you are looking at 802.11a equipment that interoperates with 802.11b. :) It is expensive, the higher xfer rates are only good for file sharing, and the range is shortened. However, the 5GHz band is not heavily populated, and cordless phone interference will be diminished.

If you get a standard DSL modem, I would recommend the BEFW11S4, a WMP11 for the desktop, and an Orinoco gold card for a laptop.

You don't recommend the Linksys PCMCIA card? Also, I was wanting to just plug the desktop into the switch on the back of the BEFW11S4, would that be a problem?

I used a WPC11 v3 for a few days, but I prefer the range of the Orinoco. You can connect your desktop with a standard NIC to the Router/wap just fine. In fact that is exactly what I do on my home lan, which consists of 2 wired desktops and a wireless notebook.
