Anyone have any experience with Brinkmann gas grills?

Just to give some back story, I've lived in the same apartment for well over 2 years now. Had a very nice, $70 charcoal grill that was used modestly over the past 2 summers. It always invited a nice get-together with some friends, and also was the bearer of some mighty flame-ups. However, about 2 months ago, at the start of the grilling season, someone stole it from behind my apartment building. To add insult to injury, they took the bag of charcoal I had sitting next to it as well (it was only right, afterall).

I had swore to giving up the grilling until I moved elsewhere, but that time isn't in sight at the moment, and I'm really missing the grill. So I've been shopping for a new grill, but figure I'll spring a bit for a gas grill this time. A friend of mine, kd2777 is his nick here, has offered to bolt the grill to the building or the concrete for me if I provide him with the hardware. I'm taking him up on his offer, and am now in the market for a low-end gas grill.

I've been looking at this Brinkmann grill as the possible successor to my charcoal outfit, but the only thing I'm not sure about is the name. I've never heard of a Brinkmann grill before, and being that I've only seen one sold at Wal-Mart is another ding to it's premature name recognition. However, after looking at a model on display in a local Wally World, it's quality is fairly decent. It's got some nice weight to everything. The 3-burner control is nice, the stainless steel parts are nice, the side-burner is nice, mostly everything about it is nice. Hell, I even like the temp gauge and electronic ignition. The cast-iron grates are a huge plus to me as well.

So what do you guys think? I want a grill that will last me for quite some time in the future (atleast 5 years I would hope), but I don't want to blow my wad on this grill if it won't last past next year.

Just hoping someone here has this brand or knows someone who does 🙂. Thanks guys.

I have a Brinkmann Gourmet Smoker and I really like it. The quality/price is pretty good in my opinion. I'm going to have to do a few modifications to it but it's just as good as the more expensive ones. I bought mine at Lowe's and then found out they had them at wally world for 20 bucks cheaper, go figure.

I bought the same grill from wally world back in May. I have no complaints. It gets hot fast and cooks even. You can't beat the price. I put it togther by myself but would be alot easier with a second person.

Consumer Reports June 05 edition rates it very god in all three catagories, 1. eveness 2. Low temp grilling 3. features and convinence.

Great to hear. Will probably go ahead and pick it up today 🙂.

I read the Grilling Bible by Steve Raichlen, and 3 or more burners is neccessary. So, good on that front. As for the side burner, I've yet to use mine. But, good choice. And, we need pics of the first cook-out.

I bought a Charmglow from Home Depot which is basically a brinkman with a different name tag and they also upgraded the grates and added some extra stainless steel, but the internals are the same and so far I love it. Although it burns a lot hotter than my old charbroil, so the burgers were a little burnt the first few times I cooked on it.

Being I will be at the first cookout, I would hope you never blow your wad on the grill. 😛
