Anyone have any examples of 12 tone music?

The only band that I know of that has any 12 tone stuff is Gentle Giant (song Raconteur Troubadour). It is definitely an interesting style. My guitar told me about a jazz musician who would do 12 tone improvization! That's something I would love to hear.

Pretty much... Heck, you could write a computer program to generate 12 tone music. It involved playing 12 notes, each of them being a unique tone. They don't have to be in the same octave range, and you can alter the timing however you want.

12 tone music is based off of serialism. Its a theory that says rather than have notes in a key, and as long as you use those notes you are safe, you must put all twelve tones in a particular (serial) order and always sequence your melodies using that order. It doesn't matter what rhthym or timing you use or how the notes flow, but as long as they are flowing in that particular order you are safe. That sense of order is similar to the sense of order you get when using a "key" such as C Major.

I was talking to someone who was a missionary in africa (Can't remember what country) apparently in some places they use a 5 note scale instead of an octave. Apparently their music sounds quite bizarre.
