Anyone Have Antec Tx640B?

I'm looking for a new case and came across te antec performance tx640b. I am wondering if anyone has experience with this case. Specifically I'm wondering how it compares with the slk3000b (i know this lacks a power supply). Any opinions are appreciated. -Rob

I have owned the TX640B for a little over 4 months now and in my opinion it is one of the better cases I have used. The 400W power supply is very stable and running my system with no troubles. I think the case is better constructed than any in the SLK line. They seem to be made with a thinner metal and the faces are prone to breaking. The plastic face on this case feels more durable and the metal doesn't seem to have as much flex. The cooling is fantastic (comes with a 120mm TriCool; I added an 80mm TriCool up front) and it keeps my temps nice and low. The front filter does it's job well. I have not had to clean the interior of the case since I have used it. I hope this helps out and good luck in your purchase.

i own one also, very happy with it. very good air flow, here see for yourself -

How is the quietness of this case? Also does this case have rubber grommets for the harddrive mounts? I'll be keeping this pc in a bedroom and don't need silence but being quiet is definitely enough. I"m trying to decide if the p150 is worth the premium over this model, while also deciding if i want the slk3000b and just buy my own power supply. I do like the fact that the tx640b has no front door.

well with 10 fans going in mine i wouldn't exactly call it qiuet. if you are looking for a qiuet wimpy case this is not the case for you

The TX series is an update of the older SX series, all of which offer open airways and good cooling. They're only as quiet as the parts you put inside, with no attempt to baffle or dampen noise at all. Not that such attempts are really very successful, at all, but a case like the Sonata will be slightly quieter than a TX model with the same parts inside... It'll also run warmer.

Component selection is the key to a quiet computer. It's a lot easier to prevent noise than to kill it, and cases that breathe well allow for wimpy fans that just won't deliver in more restrictive boxes...

how is the 400 Watt smartpower 2 power supply that is included with this case. Is it adequate or will it likely need to be replaced? Also is the tx640b similiar to the slk6000 on the inside or are they designed differently? Thanks, Rob

The Antec smartpower should be entirely adequate for most anything short of SLI, and might even do well at that. They're decent quality, and neither terribly loud or extremely quiet...

The two Antecs are similar inside, with the tx640 being slightly smaller, and having less drive capacity... Check the pics at Newegg...
