I want to get a modchip for my xbox. I was wondering what other people experiences have been with them. Reading www.xboxhacker.net I just realized that there are a lot of other things you can do with a modchip besides play backups. You can swap the hard drive out with a bigger one, you can install linux, you can rip the games to your harddrive and play divx movies from your xbox.

If you do have a modchip was it easy to install? and which one did you get?

I don't have one, but I have 40+ games for it. I'm going to buy an XBOX and make my own modchip like my bud, and flash to bios and be set for life. $200 / 40 games = $5 per game and a free console (were every game to be fun), but I'm sure 30 some games will suck major butt.

Ya know GermyBoy, you're breaking the law.

Personally I find it despicable to illegally pirate games. The cost for the amount of entertainment they can provide compares to nothing else. Not to mention, the developers work their asses off (most of the time) to bring you a good game. Now there's plenty of crappy ones out there, but that still doesn't make it right to copy them.

It is wrong to pirate games, but you have the RIGHT to back them up. Companies make it really difficult for you to backup your software, movies, cds, etc, but you have the legal right to back them up. With the current Xbox, the only way to play your backups is with a mod chip and modding the Xbox is legal. Using the modchip, for illegal purposes, is bad. But if you are using the modchip to backup your own games and playing them, that's perfectly fine.

I totally agree with you, BUT GermyBoy is obviously wanting to play pirated games, so it is a different story altogether.

I do.. Man a chipped Xbox adds so much functionality to it.. I dont think I would own a non-chipped xbox..
