I'm going to be ordering mine next week unless I can find a good reason not to. It's small as hell and a 3x optical zoom..downside is the SD media which is expensive but what can you do about it?

Any negative reports? Any contenders that I should take a look at besides the Canon S200?

you cannot beat the size of the dimage X but the color quality leaves a lot to be desired. i own a s330 and feature and photo quality wise i believe it is superior to that of the minolta but i believe the largest selling point of the minolta is its small footprint and absolutly rediculously light weight. so if you are overall looking for pockatabilty, then go for dimage X. if features and quality are of highest concern i suggest you check you cannon powershot series especially s330 and s200 as well as nikon coolpix 2500. they are all 2mpix cameras in the same price range. oh btw, the damn SD memory is about the size of a thumbnail! incredible.

I read some reviews and looked at some pics...didn't notice any prob with the pics but I don't have a trained eye.

Are they washed out? Too dim? What bothers you about them?

A friend of mine has one and I have seen it work. Picture quality is not bad. It is a shirt pocket camera. He also has a Canon D30 for more serious stuff. Locally, the Dimage-X is back ordered and hard to get. It basically is cute. I am currently using a fatter but also "shirt pocket," Olympus D-40. It's picture quality is outstanding at 4 MP. It replaced a C3030Z. I have a Canon D60 on order (backlogged every where) for more serious work.

If you want a digicam that is pocketable, and easy to use for travelling situations, the Dimage-X is very cool. Would I trade my D40 for one? Nope! :)
