Anyone have an LCD Case Mod?

I saw a few on some websites and they look pretty sweet. It looks pretty simple to install just plug in the serial port and power it, but what about the programs that are required to display the text, I suck at programming and don't want to have to write any code. Do they give you drivers/programs to run the LCD screen? Anyone know what a good one with like 4 lines of text with 20 characteres per line costs with blue back light?

hah serial is for wusses. Get a parallel with the hitachi controler and wire it urself 🙂 I did it, works fine, theres tons of software already out there and that is compatible with all types of system/hardware checks and even apps like winamp.

oh yeah, and ill reccomend www.crystalfontz.com over matrixorbital any day 🙂

You know of any graphical LCDs w/ drivers and everything? (320x240 or 640x480). I'd like to be able to do graphics on a small LCD so I can monitor a system w/o pulling it out from behind everything.

Something like this. I'd be interested in hooking up one of these, but I don't want to have to build hardware for it. I wouldn't mind writing software if I had all the data on controlling the thing, but I couldn't build hardware to attach it to a serial port.

Hmm not sure but im sure with some googling u can find something. For the price ud prolly just get a old playstation lcd and use the svideo or rca input on it and hook it up to ur computer and try something...i duno how u would display only what u want or whatever but im sure something intresting can be done.
