anyone have an ipod?

I'm thinking about getting myself one for christmas, either 5gb or 10gb version and I was wondering what people think of it?

Thinking about one too. If I get one, it'll be the 10GB version. It's the thinest of the three I think, and it comes with the new earphones, wired-remote, and new control pad. It can hold like 2,000 songs or something, so I think that's enough.

I three, was thinking on getting one this Christmas🙂 I was thinking on the 20gb version or an AIW 9700Pro. I hear that they freeze if you constangly vibrate them. So it's not ideal for working out.

Aren't all the versions of the iPod the same size?

10gb is my entire mp3 collection so it would definetly be enough for me 😉

do you know how thinner it is? I also read on some forum that the 5gb version is the most shock proof

I got myself a 20GB one over the weekend...here are some reactions:

Obviously it's the sexiest mp3 player out there. Solid, one-piece construction. A little heavy, but then I got the 20GB one. The touch wheel is tight. Menu system is awesome...good options and back light.

Negatives:

The back is all chrome, so it shows up EVERY fingerprint, smudge, etc. Also, it seems very succeptible to scratching. The front is clear acrylic, but also picks up every spec of dust possible, and seems like it might scratch easily. (I wiped it off once with a soft cloth and I can see minute possible scratches. Also, even though I fully have charged the battery, the indicator shows it at 75%. It was working until yesterday, don't know what happened.

The software it comes with is Musicmatch, and it installs a plug-in to sync the iPod with your music library. The sync feature doesn't work right, and it doesn't get all the way through before it just quits. I ended up having to manually copy the music over since the sync wouldn't work right.

Overall, it's easily the best one out there. I'm not so much worried about the cosmetics (I got a replacement plan so if it gets too bad I'll see about getting a new one) but I am worried about the battery indicator. Anyone have one that can offer any information?

think you might like this
http://www.ipodlounge.com/

they have reviews of other software for the ipaq, most freeware and better than musicmatch

I've had a Macintosh ipod since december 30, 2001. 🙂 It's been a lot of fun, and is definitely the coolest looking (and easiest to use) portable mp3 player available. Over the course of the year my back has gotten pretty scratched up but you can still see your reflection on it.

Battery life is debatable. I've never had it run the full 10 hours and I'm not sure whether the batteries exhibit some sort of memory effect or not (Even though they're not /supposed/ to).
