Anyone have an ionic breeze?

I have the Ionic Breeze Quadra with the ozone guard and it's only good for smaller rooms and not effective at filtering the whole house. I would check the Consumer Reports issue on air purifiers/cleaners for recommendations on a good HEPA air filter (which are a little pricey, but much better).

I have 2 Ionic pro knock offs from walmart. They are great at getting rid of the odors. My wife insists on keeping the puppy in our room and if we take the grid out to clean it and dont put it in right away by the 2nd day the room smells of puppy and piss (puppy piss not mine).
And when we clean the grid it is naaaaaaaaaasty. It looks like it is growing something on the blades. Black and fuzzy. Only thing about them I dislike is once they start to get dirty and you dont clean it right away it makes this awful static crackling sounds. Gets worse as days go by with out cleaning it so make sure once you start hearing the static noise to clean it right away. At night with it all quiet in the room it sounds like a mad scientist lab with all the pops, zaps, and crackles.

I heard they were going to build a giant Ionic Breeze right over L.A. It'll suck up all the smog and pollutants; it'll be way cool.

I wonder if that would work....

My concern is the ozone that some of these things put out. I hear that can be bad.

yup there was a report on it, very bad and they don't really clean anything. in my experience they put out a weird smell....

Well - ozone will get the smell out of nearly everything. That's about all it's good for.

Ionic breezes work - just they work very poorly. Many people will come into this thread and claim they work. These people will be correct. However, models with a fan and a HEPA filter work 100 times better.

The ozone is small but significant. So why bother with a much less effective and ozone producing device? Buy a fan and a HEPA filter and be done with it.
