Anyone have an idea....

Truly works of art! Since they are "custom-made" by this company only and out of expensive aluminum, I believe the price. They are low volume so they have to have high prices to cover their fixed costs.

$500 is too much for me to pay, but at least you can rest assured that this case won't really go obsolete for at least 3-4 years unless the ATX standard changes radically. Unlike a GF3, this $500 outlay will last quite a bit longer.

I've seen those cases around, and while they look really nice, the ColdForge AA-15, made by Faraday Cases is coming out within the next month or two and it is the most beautiful case I have ever seen, and the price, while not finalized yet is going to be way cheaper than $500, try more in the $300's range. If you check out the specs on the site, it is way more of a case than the soldams are. I'm going to get myself one of these as soon as I put build my next rig during the summer.
