Hi -

I feel kind of stupid posting this because there probably is something easy I can do to fix this...but I can't figure out what it is.

Anyway I just bought an Asus VS248H-P and am having big problems. I have it connected to an ATI HD 6870 via and HDMI cable (using latest Catalyst drivers on Windows 7 64bit) - and no matter what I try to do, the image will not fill the screen. There is a ~1" border on all sides of the image.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? I have it set to 1920x1080.

I have also noticed that although the specs for the monitor say it does 75hz, I am only able to set it to 60hz.

I have tried to see if there was a place in the monitors OSD to stretch the image but it looks like it is grayed out. Also, the OSD is inconsistant - if I change the sharpness settings, for example, the sharpness option subsequently becomes grayed out, making it impossible to change sharpness back to the way it originally was. I solved this by resetting each of the color presets to factory defaults as well as resetting the entire monitor to factory defaults.

So does anyone know what I can do to fix this? Windows correctly identified the monitor, but I suppose I can look at Asus' website to find an updated .inf file for the monitor. Other than that I have no idea what to try next.

One last thing - pretty much everywhere I have looked, this monitor has received very good reviews, so it is puzzling as to why Im having these issues.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Go into the Catalyst Control Center then open My Digital Flat panels and choose Scaling Options. Move the slider to 0(all the way to the right) hit Apply and the problem will be fixed.

Thank you so much sandorski. I had looked in there initially, but somehow missed it. Problem is now fixed.

But I have 2 more questions: First, in my initial post I said that Windows 7 had correctly identified my monitor....but I was wrong, it is reporting it as a Generic PnP monitor. I have looked for .inf files at Asus but have been unable to find any. Does anyone know if Asus has created .inf files for their monitors, and if so, where they can be found?

And second (and this is probably related to the first) - the monitor is supposed to be able to do 75hz, but I am only able to set it to 60hz, regardless of the resolution that I choose. I suspect that if there was a .inf file specific to this monitor, the correct resolution and refresh rates would show up....is this correct? And is there any other way to get the monitor to use 75hz? The ATI CCC even reports that the monitor is capable of 75hz.

Thanks again for your help.

I also have an Asus monitor and it is identified correctly, but I don't remember if I had to install an Inf for it. Did your monitor come with a disc? Definitely checkout Asus website for one.

Mine also reports 75hz as a capable refresh, but I have ignored it as far as I know LCDs pretty much are either 60hz or 120hz and that's it. I could be wrong in that, 60hz on LCD is nothing like 60hz on CRT, so I never felt the need to change it.

if using VGA you can set to 75hz, with DVI or HDMI it's stuck at 60hz. This is normal when using a digital connection.
Also the monitor showing up as generic is also normal.
