Anyone have advice for opening a laptop?

I got a screwdriver set from radioshack. I'm trying to get the little screws out but they are extremly difficult to get unscrewed. Anyone have advice? Are they only meant for electric screwdrivers?

What are you using, those little jeweler screwdriver set? No good, you'll strip the head. Go to sears and buy a nice long screwerdriver with the tiny bits. Something like $15, will last you forever. Long handle gives you plenty of torque to take off some of those screws which are usually very tight from the factory.

Okay, I got all the screws off using a can opener as leverage for the jewel screws. 😛

But the back of the computer is still not coming undone. Has anyone ever opened a laptop? The front is popped up but it seems like the back where all the ports and such is not disengaging from the chassis.

What model laptop is it? They're all different, but if you don't see any screws left on the bottom look at the top. The couple of laptops that I've opened up required me to pop out the keyboard and other things in that area.

Check the mfr's website. I know HP and Dell both provide detailed instructions on opening and servicing their laptop's, including pictures and diagrams. Don't know about any other mfr's, but I would suspect most major ones would do the same.

The above could be likened to stating one has a car, and simply asking how to remove the engine.

Without further details as to the make and model of machine, it is quite difficult to offer advice.
