Something that can be plugged into laptop and used anywhere. I have know idea about any of these becuase i dont use them,

anyone know a good one?

I use Cingular wireless at work. Your looking at maybe 2-3 times dialup speed on a good day. Nice for basic connectivity. Cingular has good coverage in Tennessee so it would depend on what state your client is in.
 
I use Cingular for meetings and travelling. I have a Sony Ericsson phone that allows me to use the phone with a USB cable for internet access. I see about 100kbps transfer speeds unless I have a REALLY strong signal and I'll get more. Response time is slow because Cingular compresses the graphics before they are sent through their service.
Plans are fairly expensive. 10 meg per month for $30 up to unlimited for $80 per month.
 
is this similiar to tmobile hotspot at starbucks/borders?
