Just curious. It's been out for a while so I figured at least someone on here has gotten one.

Yes I have one sitting next to me right now. Great phone. If you are in an EVDO area it is well worth the VCast to get online all the time. The internal screen and keyboard are just fantastic.

Umm...well, if you are up for a new contract they just bumped it down at verizon's site to $199 online (instant rebate of $100). If you buy it brand spankin new then you looking at around $499, I think.

Yeah, the front end nav is a little tight. BUt I have elarned to use it a lot better. The front screen may be able to be toggled off in the settings menu. Press the MENU button, hit "0" and the type in "000000." You'll have access to a whole bunch of other stuff. I know I saw something in there.

Hey Ctk - I think I got to what you wanted. Do as I said before...or here... fresh:

Hit MENU
Type in "0"
Enter code "000000"
then enter "0" again
Select Backlight settings
Select "No"

That is I think what controls the backlight. Mine is now off when I don't tuse it for a few minutes, forgot to check during charging, but I expect the same.

The 8100 is a pretty good phone too, my friend has one. They are kinda different. The Camera is better ont he 9800 and the qwerty keyboard and internal screen give it unique advantages. Its a toss up on preferences though the 9800 is my preference.

The card reader is ok. I haven't played with it much. As good as the 8100.
