Regarding the splashing at the urinal, I found that by directing the stream so it gradually changes direction makes no splashback. If you pee into the water, you will have splashback from the fast moving stream entering the water. If you pee so that the urine stream makes a sudden change of direction against the porcelain, you will have splashback. I think the best way is to pee so the stream "glides" along the porcelain and makes a gradual change of direction. Its a welcome technique when wearing sandals or wearing shorts...

So lift the seat up? Or pee sitting down. What's so hard about that? :whiste:

Those solutions are a lot easier than your proposed solution. Good luck convincing your wife to tear up your bathroom and install a urinal. LOL! In fact, you should video that conversation and post it on youtube.

Even if the seat is lifted, splashed pee will still land on the toilet rim. That still grosses out the women.

Realistically, I would only install a urinal where there would be room for it. Its not worth to rip up my bathroom in its current layout for a minor convenience such as a urinal. Nevertheless, I would like to have one in my home one day...

In my lakehouse cabana, I have a bathroom that's decked out with commercial paper dispensers. I was tempted to put in a urinal simply to keep the seat clean for the ladies during beer parties.

all these supplemental 'urinals' remind me of the drunk party stories. Any port in a storm; the laundry basket, open dresser drawer, any handy corner, or the closet for those with a smidgin of decorum. just a smidgin.

Most of the time if the weather is 40 degrees or above, I'll just go pee in the backyard. Saves water, and makes the grass green.

True, but still more room for error. Also, there is a slight risk of stepping into the urinal itself (think drunk/sleepy people)

He really does have a waterless urinal in his house. They have become very common in commercial buildings in the southwest.

On cruise ships too.

you know what scarred me for life? pissing in men's room troughs with 50 other guys in fenway park, boston garden and foxboro stadium. not some kind of fancy stainless steel or porcelain jobs - these were fucking cobblestone ditches in the middle of the room with a single dim light bulb swinging in the corner. sinks? sure, but it's probably cleaner to not wash your hands.

Maybe entertain yourself by chasing the cigarette butts upstream?

When you think about it, urinals do make a lot of sense. They're more efficient since they use less water. Unless you want to pee in the sink like a savage.
