I was advised that the roof is warrantied for 40 years, the fasteners are not.

With standing seam, you don't have exposed fasteners like the old metal. The metal does work the fasteners looser over time, but the whole thing is snapped together securely. This loosening effect only goes so far and the roof stabilizes. After that it is very wind resistant, far better than conventional metal and shingle roofs.
The old gaskets screw down metal would loosen up and begin to weep a bit at the screws. Then the whole thing can get loose enough to come loose in a storm.

well the back of the house got finished today, here's some pics, the rest gets finished tomorrow :)

i'm happy so far :) in the end we deciced to go with (i forget the name, the cheaper stuff) for the back of the house (that doesn't get seen from the sreet), and with the more expensive stuff on front.

i'll post pics of the front tomorrow when it's finished:

end of day 2 and it's just about finished up :)

just a few more pieces here and there, and the secondary structure is getting finished up as i type this, one or at the most two more days and it'll be all done :)

what a huge load off my mind...the old roof had 2 spots that were actually slow drips during the heavy mega flood action we had all month;
