My only experience with a standing desk was a $2,000 standing desk my employer bought for my office. Now that I'm working at home I'd like to get one. I see prices anywhere from $199 to $800. Does anyone have one that is relatively sturdy? What features does it have and what did you pay for it?

I have one at our new office. I'll find out the brand if you like the photo from just now -but they were around 275 a piece. Very sturdy, medium size though, not small but definitely not large, like a smaller medium size. Last office we had slightly bigger ones, also very sturdy. But they were $1200

In late 2021, I bought a Jarvis from Fully (the narrow, 24"x48" bamboo topped version). Looking back, it cost me about $630 after some discounts and sale they were having (and actually cost less overall, because I used the purchase to get a CC opening bonus that had a low spend).

The desk has been fantastic. It's sturdy and has no wobbles. Motion up and down is smooth. The bamboo top is also thick enough to support a dual monitor clamping stand. Top also has two passthroughs for cables, one of which I replaced with a plug/USB combo for on-desk charging. I also opted for a cable management thing, and that has largely been okay - it would have been better if it was either a little more open or maybe an inch deeper, but I've made it work to hold a power strip.

I'd also add, the controller has 4 memory buttons, though I only use two: one for sit, one for stand.

Edit:
This is the one I got: https://www.fully.com/standing-desks/small-spaces/jarvis-bamboo-twenty-four.html - looks like it's even cheaper now than when I bought it.

I set people up with standing desks & treadmills. Amazon is my favorite place to get the motorized desks (ex. FlexiSpot), as you can typically get them for under $300. The price goes up from there depending on the size & features you want (ex. a monitor riser shelf). For monitors, I like to go with Ergotron arms, so you can strap them onto the desk securely & then swivel, tilt, move, and height-adjust the screens as needed.

If you're interested in treadmills, those typically go for $300 to $400. Keep an eye on the length, width, and speeds, as there are some super skinny cheapo ones out there that are annoying to walk on lol. If you don't want a treadmill, they also make sit/stand stools. I'll typically setup a drafting chair that has a back & a ring for feet, in case you want to keep the desk standing but sit at the desk without lowering it.

I've been using a Fezibo standing corner desk from Amazon for a year and a half, it ran about $280. I only have minor quibbles, but for the price, I'm satisfied. It does the things.

Based on suggestions from several coworkers, I got my son an Autonomous SmartDesk Core. It has been working without issue for two years. Vert sturdy and easy to control.

We have them at work, nobody really cared for getting one but they had to use up a budget and it was the first thing they thought of. Most of us don't use it, It's tricky to get the cable management done right so you're not pulling on stuff to have it go up/down.

We're in the process of relocating to a whole new office so I might actually take the time to do better cable management so that I can use it without worrying about pulling on anything.
