Unfortunately, the only local place I've found a decent deal is WalMart. :(

I live alone, so it'd be nice to not need to use the oven for everything - a bit overkill..anyone familiar with these things, or could anyone recommend a better option?

I don't know about that particular model but I've had a sharp microwave for 13 yrs. Last year I moved it to work because some of the buttons stopped working. It warms up my lunch everyday. I replaced it with another sharp microwave.

The new one doesn't seem as solidly built as the old one but isn't that true of most things.

That's a weak microwave. I got a 1.3 kwatt GE microwave off of craigslist for $20, the going rate for used microwaves. Is the fancy gimmicks worth the $200 premium?

I don't have any idea - that's why I'm asking. :p

I live way up north & Craigslist isn't nearly as active as it is elsewhere, but I'll take a look & see what I can find.

I love sharp microwaves. but they don't make them like they used to. we had an old turn dial based one that lasted my parents a good 15yrs. Our next one only lasted a few years unfortunately. Mostly the control pad screwed up so there was no way to know what you were doing. The next one has been going strong for a few years now.

With that said, I wouldn't spend more than $100 on a microwave if I could help it.... $222?!?! geez
