they do look trendy for a moped, and being a honda means it'll likely still be working in the next millenium. The only issue with the ruckus is that you sacrifice the underseat storage that is the #1 advantage of having to ride a scooter. Other scoot scoots allow you to leave your helmet as you try about, no such luck with these. Why not go for a geared 50cc motocross stlye bike? They're marginally quicker, but a lot more fun to ride (I think scooters can be dangerous because they are so boring to ride you lose concentration).
Good idea, but look at it... hideous. I'd be tempted if it didn't make it look like you've glued a stapler to the front of your helmet.
it's supposed to separate in the event of an accident, but it looks so unstreamlined that anything above maybe 120mph will see it fly right off I recon. That area of the helmet is exactly where the air of your fairing id directed, so will have concentrated airflow over it.
Also... 3-5 seconds to read data? i don't think so. Maybe for an 85 year old. For RPM, you don't even have to look down, you can see the needle with your periferal vision. Many bikes have lights when you hit your max power/redline anyway...

1, there is no way anyone's scooter is going to go over 120mph (that'd be awesome though!)
2, forget the practical application, it's cool and geeky lol
I hope Honda sells a boat load of'em. Undressing them realy cuts the price.

Remove the belt and hello bicycle trail or loading it on the Metro bus or train. :thumbsup:

The statutes in every state are different, but many do not require registration or insurance for under 50cc and not over 30 mph scooters . . on the other hand, some still require actual moped pedals.
Be realistic with your selection . . the scooter needs to have a large enough engine to keep up with the traffic you will be traveling with, which will probably require registration, insurance, and a motorcycle endorsement on your driver license. Always wear a full face helmet and riding jacket . . the potential injury exposure is the same on either a moped or Harley motorcycle.
If you can "twist a wrench", the China "crate scooters" can be a very good value . . although it is always a "pay your money and take your chances" situation. Valley Scooters is one vendor with a decent BBB report.

You can get a brand new Kawasaki Ninja 250R motorcycle for 2,999.00 +tax/licensing/etc. Which is a hell of a lot less than most scooters from the major manufacturers, and offers a lot more performance. Overall risk is the same, so unless you are dead set on a scooter, or require an automatic transmission, explore all the options.
PS I am not knocking scooters, I just think that many are overpriced compared to other options out there.

the ruckus is nice.. but i prefer the BIG ruckus.. in anycase the 50cc engine wont get you too fast, upto about 45mph maybe 55.

I had a pair of Yamaha Razz scooters in college. an '89 and an '87. Absolutely no better way to get around a college campus, IMO. They were slow as hell (would only get over 30 mph downhill) but it was perfect for a poor college student that only needed to get to and from class.
No insurance required, no danger of speeding tickets, park on a bike rack, 80 mpg...you could even work on it in your apartment / house if it was cold out...
I've still got both of them, but I gave them to my brother. They stopped running, and he doesn't know anything about keeping them going...and I'm 700 miles away, so I can't help. They sit out behind his house now
